LAUNCHING SEPTEMBER 2025

Sometimes one unexpected bill is all it takes to pushsomeone into a crisis.

Each week, United Way of Nevada County hears from Nevada County residents facing impossible choices—between fixing their only means of transportation or paying rent, between replacing a broken appliance or putting food on the table. These are hardworking individuals and families living on the edge of poverty, where a single unforeseen expense can mean going without a basic need.

To help bridge these critical gaps, United Way of Nevada County is proud to launch the Emergency Fund, beginning September 2025.

What is the Emergency Fund?

The Nevada County Emergency Fund is a new program designed to offer short-term, discretionary financial assistance to low-income residents of Nevada and Sierra Counties who are facing urgent, unexpected needs and have no other available support.

This fund is not intended to solve chronic or long-term financial struggles. Instead, it’s here to help during an immediate, short-term crisis—when a small amount of help can make a big difference.
