Why Partner with Us?

We know that the most effective community change is based on a foundation of collaboration. Together we are able to support critical services and improve our community.

By leveraging philanthropic resources identified and collected within its community, United Way of Nevada County serves as a partner and investor of programs managed by non-profit 501(c)(3) health or human service organizations that provide services to Nevada County residents.

There are many benefits to becoming a United Way of Nevada County (UWNC) Partner. It enhances your organization’s credibility, showing the community (and other funders) that your organization has been reviewed, vetted, and meets standards of excellence through our membership certification process. Through its Community Impact Process, UWNC has given over one million dollars back to the community in the past ten years. This includes designations and allocations to UWNC programs, partner organizations, and collaborative programs.

Additional Benefits in Becoming a Partner

  • A listing in our brochure distributed during workplace campaigns and community events.

  • Increased visibility with opportunities for speaking engagements and agency tours

  • Ability to mobilize volunteers

  • Collaboration opportunities

  • Marketing opportunities

  • Ability to form connections and collaborations with other non-profits and corporate partners.

United Way of Nevada County (UWNC) partners with organizations that share our view that the way to improve lives is by mobilizing the caring power of communities. Their commitment to addressing Basic Needs, such as helping alleviate food insecurity, providing emergency shelter for families in crisis, and making access to health care a priority, among other things, is very important.

In order for a non-profit to apply to become a new partner with UWNC, they must be an established 501(c)3 non-profit serving Nevada County for three years, in Health & Human Services.

To apply to become a UWNC Partner, check back here in Spring, 2021.

United Way Partner Benefits

United Way of Nevada County partner logo

The United Way Brand

The use of the United Way brand is more than just a requirement of partnership; it is a mark of distinction that provides mutually beneficial results for both UWNC and the organizations within our Partner Network.

Our Partners are encouraged to utilize the United Way brand, which is one of the most recognized nonprofit brands in the world. The more we get the United Way of Nevada County name out in the community, the more people will identify the name with good work. That provides mutually beneficial results for both UWNC and the partners in our network. The “Community Partner” logo should be displayed and clearly visible.

Funding Opportunities

Designations:

Through Workplace Giving Campaigns, Partner organizations are able to get direct designations from workplace employees. This, coupled with the UWNC brochure, gives our partners a connection with the local United Way Workplace Giving Campaigns and Global Campaigns.

Funding Allocations:

UWNC funds will be distributed with the below priorities:

  1. Established collaborative UWNC programs that fall under UWNC's vision of striving to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet there basic needs. (Example: Food Access Saturday and High School Food Pantry)
  2. New programs, which are developed and formed through collaborations that include UWNC Partners.
  3. Special funding and emergency requests from established partners. UWNC is currently making a strategic shift in how it allocates funds and is working on a more responsive funding mechanism for community priorities. Only established Partners will be able to apply for these funds.

Outreach & Promotion

United Way of Nevada County (UWNC) is continuously supporting and collaborating with non-profits that are based in Nevada County. Our Partners are featured on our website and published materials including the UWNC brochure.

Our Partner organizations’ information is included in materials that are distributed to thousands of donors through our Workplace Giving Campaigns.  UWNC Partners are also listed on the Our Promise CA State Employees Campaign website and brochure, which is distributed across the state to California State Employees.

United Way is proud to collaborate with non-profit organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of Nevada County residents. We provide resources and opportunities for promotion and outreach to help spread the message about the good work that our Partners do in the community.
