Neighbors Helping Neighbors When It Matters Most

The Buddy Evacuation Team (BET) is a new community initiative funded by the California Fire Foundation. The program connects volunteers (“Buddies”) with residents (“Participants”) who may need help preparing for or evacuating during emergencies.

How it Works:

  • Buddies help residents create go-bags and evacuation plans.
  • Both receive emergency alerts and readiness training.
  • During warnings, Buddies check in and coordinate help if needed.

This simple, local system helps to ensure that no one is left behind during an evacuation.
