Below are frequently asked questions about the campaign including how your donations are spent or distributed to the organization of your choice. If you still have questions after reading these please reach out to admin@uwnc.org or 530-274-8111.
Q. What does United Way of Nevada County do with the donations?
A. United Way of Nevada County has created programs that make an impact on the residents of Nevada County. The programs UWNC currently runs are Food Access Saturday, the School Pantry program, Project Warmth. Disaster Preparedness and the Nevada County Emergency Fund.
Q. I would like my money to stay locally within Nevada County. How can I be sure that my donations are not used to support executive salaries?
A. Your donations are put to use right here in our community (unless you choose to designate your pledge to an out of the area 501(c)(3) nonprofit). All our efforts at United Way of Nevada County focus on the residents of Nevada County. Support for these efforts comes from local donors and local volunteers.
Q. I would like to donate to an organization that I have supported for years.
A. You can designate your donation to any nonprofit (501(c)3), and it does not have to be in Nevada County or even in California. Just provide the complete name and address of the organization on the payroll deduction form.
Q. How are donations sent to the designated organizations? Is the donor identified?
A. Every designation that goes out to a non-profit is sent from United Way of Nevada County. Included with the check is the name of the donor and how much they have donated to the organization (unless the donor asks to be anonymous). A small processing fee is deducted from the total. Donations designated to other organizations are sent quarterly.
Q. I signed up for the payroll campaign last year, do I need to submit another form this year?
A. If you submitted a payroll deduction form last fall, it will expire on 12/31/2025. You must submit another one to continue your donations in 2026.
