Project Warmth 2022 was a huge success!

We were able to give away 1,591 winter clothing items at our Shopping Sprees:

  • 655 coats/jackets/sweaters
  • 102 pairs of pants
  • 174 hats
  • 288 pairs of socks
  • 264 pairs of gloves
  • 101 scarves, earmuffs
  • 7 pairs of boots/shoes

We are so happy that we could provide winter clothing and help support the  important work of these organizations:

  • Connecting Point
  • Nevada County Supt. of Schools Homeless Education and Foster Youth
  • The Friendship Club
  • Bright Futures for Youth
  • Hospitality House
  • Women of Worth
  • Family Booth Center
  • Sierra Nevada Children’s Services
  • Sierra Roots
  • Interfaith Food Ministry
  • Bell Hill Academy
  • Partners Family Resource Center

The remaining items were donated to local schools and thrift stores.

Why Coats are important...

Coats slow thermal equilibrium. They keep what’s inside in, and what’s outside out, as much as possible. “So — the coat is helping you,” Grotzer says. “I like to give kids that idea, because then it’s not just that it’s protecting you against the cold; it’s actually holding something that is yours — your heat energy.”  Harvard Graduate School of Education.
