United  Way of Nevada County partners with organizations that share our view  that the way to improve lives is by mobilizing the caring power of  communities. FREED Center for Independent Living offers services to people with   disabilities: Personal assistant and housing referral, home fix-it,   information and referral, peer support, advocacy, independent living   skills, technology assistance, Senior Companions.

Hospitality House

Hospitality House is a nonprofit community shelter for the homeless in  Nevada County funded primarily by individual  donations. The  year-round  shelter is a no tolerance safe haven; those seeking shelter at are  offered three meals, along  with laundry and shower facilities.

Interfaith Food Ministry feeds the  hungry and works to reduce food   insecurity in Nevada County, helping  to sustain health, human dignity,   and the opportunity for individuals  to realize their full potential.  

Habitat for Humanity

Sierra Community House

Sierra Community House 

Provides  hunger relief, legal aid, immigration assistance, and  family-strengthening  programs, as well as direct services to victims of  intimate  partner/domestic violence, sexual and child abuse. Sierra  Community House is the result of the merger of Project MANA, North Tahoe  Family Resource Center, Tahoe SAFE Alliance and Family Resource Center  of Truckee.
