The free 2-day clinic will be held on Jan. 11th and 12th. It will take many volunteers to hold the health clinic. We need professional medical volunteers to complete the general medical, dental and vision exams and procedures. We will also require volunteers to help with setup, prep, food service and other odd jobs during the two days. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the e-form by clicking the button below. We will reply within a short time.
United Way of Nevada County strives to assure that individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic needs for FOOD, EMERGENCY SHELTER & ACCESS to HEALTH CARE.
That's why United Way of Nevada County is hosting the 2020 Grass Valley Free 2-day Health Clinic along with California CareForce! Over a two-day period, about 500 patients per day will receive medical, dental and vision services free of charge.
How to be seen:
A limited number of wristbands guaranteeing next-day service will be distributed on the afternoon proceeding each clinic day. You can only receive a wristband for the next clinic day. You MUST have a wristband to receive services.
Grass Valley Area Residents – Friday and Saturday, January 10 and 11 from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11228 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley; enter through Gate 4 and go to the Main Parking Lot and then to Gate 5.
Truckee Area Residents – Friday and Saturday, January 10 and 11, from 2 pm – 4 pm, at the Sierra Community House, 11695 Donner Pass Road, Truckee.
These wristbands cannot be transferred to another individual. If the wristband has been cut, torn or altered, it may become invalid and service, or treatment, may not be given to the person in possession of the wristband. You cannot receive more than one wristband for each clinic day. You will be allocated a wristband which allows you to return at 6:30 AM, 8:30 AM or 10:30 AM on Saturday or to return at 6:30 AM, 8:30 AM or 10:30 AM on Sunday. We recommend requesting the wristband for the earliest available time on each clinic day.
You must arrive at the clinic the following day within an hour of the return time stated on your wristband to receive services.
Veterans who have their DD-214, VA card or military ID or California driver’s license/ID cards that have the military designation, do not have to receive a wristband the day before seeking services. You will be given priority to the entrance of the clinic. Please arrive by 11:00 am to be admitted to the clinic that day.
What will be offered:
The biggest need is dental and vision care, as they are rarely covered in standard insurance policies, nor are they covered in Medicare. Complete eye exams will be available, including tests for glaucoma. Patients may receive a prescription that is theirs to keep and is good for two years. Then that patient may pick out a new pair of eyeglass frames, and go home with brand new glasses made on site just for them. The CareForce can make 250 brand new pairs of glasses each day.
The 60 dental chairs CareForce with water and suction, will patients with cleanings, fillings and extractions. A Panograph machine will take a full set of X-rays for each patient. Some local dental care providers will be donating post-clinic services as well.

California CareForce is a group of medical professionals, community leaders, and engaged citizens who provide free medical, dental and vision care to those in need at 2 or 3-day, temporary clinics across California.
Without their hard work and wonderful volunteers helping to plan and implement the clinic, it wouldn't have come to fruition.
