Our Mission: To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
United Way works hard for EVERY person in our community. United Way of Nevada County helps by making sure your support goes where it's needed. A donation to United Way of Nevada County stays local. A strong United Way means human services are available when they're needed, for our County, our neighbors, our family.
VISION:
United Way of Nevada County envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their desired potential through Healthy Lives, Education and Income Stability.
To that end, our service priority is to strive to assure that individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their BASIC NEEDS:
DID YOU KNOW?
United Way of Nevada County partners with organizations that share our view that the way to improve lives is by mobilizing the caring power of communities. Their commitment to addressing Basic Needs, such as helping alleviate food insecurity, providing emergency shelter for families in crisis, and making access to health care a priority, among other things, is very important.
Our Partner organizations receive mention in our annual brochure, our
website and in marketing and social media. Our partners may have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Community Impact Funds. United Way does the due diligence to certify its partner agencies so you can trust where your designations are going.
United Way collaborates with other organizations to create programs to fill gaps in services. The Food Access Saturday program is one such example. Through collaborative meetings, United Way saw a need in the community for a food distribution program during the weekend. Through a partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry, we helped fill that need by creating Food Access Saturday, which is now a monthly program that has provided thousands of individuals with much-needed healthy food. We recently introduced a pilot program, the High School Food Pantry, to help local homeless teens suffering from food insecurity.
We at United Way know there is a need in the community for more access to healthcare, so we collaborated with California CareForce to bring a free 2-day health clinic in January 2020. It was an overwhelming success, so we are planning on hosting another free clinic in 2021.
UNITED WAY WORLDWIDE
For more than 125 years, United Way has evolved to meet the needs of the times. Today, the world needs United Way more than ever.
United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
We all have a stake in what befalls everyone. We all benefit when a child succeeds in school, when someone finds a job that will help them provide for their family, or when more people are able to access quality, affordable health care.
